Lovely day dress from Geoffrey Beene! This dress features a dusty miller colored linen fabric in a shift silhouette with a structured tie around the waist that can be adjusted to the wearer. It is accented by beautiful bridal lace details around the sleeves and the hem. Lets not forget our favorite feature for any dress, pockets! All in all this a perfect cool grey dress to wear during this hot summer!
Geoffrey Beene began his career in the 1950s, designing under numerous New York houses including Teal Traina, finally opening his own label in 1963. Beene was incredibly conscious of the human body, and was particularly regardful of the figure in motion - as Beene once said “clothing is nothing until it hits the body." His designs were created to work with the client’s body, encasing it lightly and giving it a more artful structure. Beene's reinterpretations of dress formality, use of synthetics, and unusual combination of materials (accessories in acrylic and diamonds, for example), set him aside from his contemporaries who focused on the business of fashion, rather than the artistry of fashion.

Breathtakingly designed blue lambskin gloves from Isabel Canovas features theatre muse masks and bells.
(An excerpt from DKF Estate Jewelry)
Isabel was born in Paris in 1945. Her Spanish father Blas Canovas was a couture textile designer. It is no surprise couture was in her DNA. Her career began as a designer for Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton from the early 1970’s to 1980, in 1982 when she opened her own luxury accessories company with three locations Paris, New York, and Madrid. For ten years she created a limited series of fashion accessories which formed new standards and helped mold European fashion, especially bijoux de fantaisie (costume jewelry). Her creations were whimsical, elaborate and constructed using the best materials France had to offer.
A true visionary, Isabel captured the attention of Vogue, Figaro Madame and The New York Times Magazine. Her revolutionary collections were inspired by her travels (Africa, Russia, Spain, and Venice) and also incorporated animals, fruit and vegetables, flowers and the circus. Unfortunately, after building an international clientele for ten years, Isabel closed her boutiques in the early 1990’s. Her vision and talent opened doors to other designers such as; Maud Frizon, Paloma Picasso, Frances Patiky Stein, and Dominique Aurientis. Today, her pieces are highly collectible due to the scarcity, quality and craftsmanship.

How fantastic is this piece? So fantastic that we failed to find almost anything with which it didn't look great! It can be dressed up or dress down. We are thinking it would be great to keep in the office for the day that turns into a night out. Or keep it in your car when you might find a chill in the air or in the over air-conditioned restaurant (like we find so often here in Texas). MRS Couture says, "I see it with a cotton tank, skinny jeans or cigarette pants and the " it" shoe of the season"! This wonderfully designed bolero/jacket is covered in fabric shaped and sewn to create leaf like waves. Waves are sewn into a mesh layer, which is lined underneath.

Fun and vibrant 1980's three piece halter top, skirt and crop jacket with cummerbund ensemble by recently deceased and unique designer Koos van den Akker who worked for Christian Dior before traveling to his native home in Hague, Netherlands and then back to New York City with a sewing machine and $180 going on to establish stores in the Big Apple and Beverly Hills. He was also the designer of the famed Bill Cosby Sweaters. With an attention to detail and a background in window displays. Van den Akker knew and used this talent in combination with his love for historic folk costumes. He could play play on folk concepts as inspiration for couture like no other. In this ensemble Van den Akker used a collage of floral, plaid and polka-dot prints for this work of art. Extremely well designed and executed, the stand alone Halter top has a zippered and button back closure, while the skirt has a flirty almost mock elastic waistband. The crop jacket has no closure. Can be worn as an ensemble or pieces to be paired with numerous other items in your closet. A truly unique creation and a beautiful example of his work!

Playful spring green and blossom pink bow brooch by Lawrence Vrba. The bow is composed of frosted green oval marquise cabochons, with a bright pink, round cat-eye cabochon center. The center of the bow is ornamented with two springs of round pink cabochons, reminiscent of cherry blossom stems. Gorgeous.
Lawrence Vrba began his career in 1969, working as a counter at Miriam Haskell; his talents did not go unnoticed, and he soon found himself designing jewelry. In 1970, when Miriam Haskell’s Head Designer, Bob Clark, left to work at Castlecliff, Vrba followed. Vrba spread his wings at Castlecliff, spearheading the famous Mayan collection, inspired by jewelry and adornments he saw on display at the Museum of Natural History in New York City. In 1973, after a two year stint at Castlecliff, Vrba returned to Miriam Haskell as head designer. Vrba continued to explore and expand the possibilities of costume jewelry, fashioning fine, unique pieces using materials he collected from across the globe. The Egyptian collection - perhaps his most famous Miriam Haskell collection- was inspired by materials he found while in Europe, and was featured in an edition of Vogue. In 1981s, Vrba left Miriam Haskell to work for Les Bernard, where his designs were displayed at Dillard’s for three years. In 1983 Vrba left Les Bernard to create his own eponymous business.
Vrba pieces are noted for their unusual materials, scale, and opulence! Vrba has created pieces for theatre (including Broadway hits “Wicked”, “Exit the King”, “Blythe Spirit”, “Lend Me a Tenor”, and “Hairspray”, and the Metropolitan Opera), cinema, and private customers. His pieces have been featured at Bergdorf Goodman, Vogue, and Vogue Nippon. Clients include Beyonce, Angela Lansbury, Susan Sarandon, and Katy Perry.
