Amazing 1970s Bessi Multicolored Silk Ensemble

From Pucci to his own design room, Averardo Bessi designed this absolutely amazing 1970's vibrant multicolored, abstract floral print four piece ensemble. All pieces are printed with his designer's signature fabric, which is also signed with the Bessi signature. The tunic has long sleeves and a V-neckline. Center back zipper and hook and eye closures. The pants have a wonderfully flared leg. Also have a side zipper, hook and eye and snap closures. Original fabric piped belt with clear beaded tassel is included. Belt said to have been Made by Coppola e Toppo. We have no authentification of that but we think it is most likely the case because the belts looks and feels exactly as the ones the team made for Pucci during this same era. The ensemble also comes with a large sheer silk scarf.

Born in Paris, around the turn of the 20th century, Madame Grès (nee Germaine Émilie Krebs, AKA Alix Barton, Alix) pursued sculpture before turning her interests towards fashion. Grès was initially a hat maker, but her eye for design soon propelled her into haute couture dressmaking. By the 1930s, Grès had made a name for herself and counted a number of famous women in her client list, including: Wallis Simpson - the Duchess of Windsor, Princess Matilda of Greece, Paloma Picasso, Grace Kelly, Marella Agnelli, Marie-Helene de Rothschild, Edith Piaf, Jacqueline Kennedy, Dolores del Río, Barbra Streisand, Marlene Dietrich, and Greta Garbo.
During the German occupation of France in World War II, Madame Grès was ordered to design stark, utilitarian clothing, but defied the occupation government and continued to design sumptuous dresses in the red, white and blue of the French tricolour flag. Bewilderingly, despite being Jewish, German officers were said to have asked Grès to design dresses for their wives. Grès bravely refused. Both her refusal to design for the wives of occupying officers, and her refusal to design drab garments, played a part in the forced closing of her design house; her plenteous use of fabric during wartime was the excuse given.
Grès career stretched across several decades, and her designs still remain timeless and unparalleled.

Vintage Black Silk Gold Beaded Jumpsuit

Vintage black jumpsuit. This jaw dropping vintage jumpsuit is made of black silk and has gold-tone beading throughout. The jumpsuit has heavy gold sequins in an art deco flower design running from the sleeves down to the arms and on the ankles as well. The flowers have a clear rhinestone center. The black silk portions of the jumpsuit are decorated with delicate antique-gold-tone bugle beads in vertical lines. The jumpsuit is sleeveless and dips into a front V and back V, and has three snap closures with one hook and eye closure.
