Immediately after she introduce America to the wrap dress, a young Diane Von Furstenberg gave us a silk pantsuit in a number of varieties that brought the concept of comfort and femininity to leisurewear. Today, this jumpsuit would be great in any work environment with a blazer worn over it and in almost any work environment just as she made it. The print used on this piece is one of her most well known to date, with a number of classic DVF pictures where she is wearing the print in a different colorway.
Modern size 4/6.

Lovely day dress from Geoffrey Beene! This dress features a dusty miller colored linen fabric in a shift silhouette with a structured tie around the waist that can be adjusted to the wearer. It is accented by beautiful bridal lace details around the sleeves and the hem. Lets not forget our favorite feature for any dress, pockets! All in all this a perfect cool grey dress to wear during this hot summer!
Geoffrey Beene began his career in the 1950s, designing under numerous New York houses including Teal Traina, finally opening his own label in 1963. Beene was incredibly conscious of the human body, and was particularly regardful of the figure in motion - as Beene once said “clothing is nothing until it hits the body." His designs were created to work with the client’s body, encasing it lightly and giving it a more artful structure. Beene's reinterpretations of dress formality, use of synthetics, and unusual combination of materials (accessories in acrylic and diamonds, for example), set him aside from his contemporaries who focused on the business of fashion, rather than the artistry of fashion.

Breathtakingly designed blue lambskin gloves from Isabel Canovas features theatre muse masks and bells.
(An excerpt from DKF Estate Jewelry)
Isabel was born in Paris in 1945. Her Spanish father Blas Canovas was a couture textile designer. It is no surprise couture was in her DNA. Her career began as a designer for Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton from the early 1970’s to 1980, in 1982 when she opened her own luxury accessories company with three locations Paris, New York, and Madrid. For ten years she created a limited series of fashion accessories which formed new standards and helped mold European fashion, especially bijoux de fantaisie (costume jewelry). Her creations were whimsical, elaborate and constructed using the best materials France had to offer.
A true visionary, Isabel captured the attention of Vogue, Figaro Madame and The New York Times Magazine. Her revolutionary collections were inspired by her travels (Africa, Russia, Spain, and Venice) and also incorporated animals, fruit and vegetables, flowers and the circus. Unfortunately, after building an international clientele for ten years, Isabel closed her boutiques in the early 1990’s. Her vision and talent opened doors to other designers such as; Maud Frizon, Paloma Picasso, Frances Patiky Stein, and Dominique Aurientis. Today, her pieces are highly collectible due to the scarcity, quality and craftsmanship.

This fitted indigo taffeta and black velvet dress has a sweetheart neckline with optional halter top straps, and is ankle length. The velvet dress has more than a passing similarity to another of Murray Arbeid's designs - the 1987 red and black velvet flamenco ball gown made famous by Princess Diana! The gown was later sold in 1997 at Christie's Auctions in Manhattan for $25,300.00, to benefit cancer and AIDS charities. Our own Murray Arbeid gown features a dramatic, refined, and absolutely fascinating origami-like pleated embellishment that runs from the upper left neckline, down to the left mid-hip, and stretches across in a triangular-shape, to the right mid-hip, ending in an open fan fold detail. Side zipper.

Fabulous curve-hugging suede pencil skirt by Alaia! The skirt is primarily indigo suede, with brown suede casually draped over the hips and gathered at the waist with a bronze - tone O - ring belt.
*The skirt is shown laying flat. The third and fourth images show the skirt at a 3/4 view and from the back.
Alaia moved to Paris in the 1950s, after finishing his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Tunisia. He worked for various houses and designers including Christian Dior, Guy Laroche, and Thierry Mugler, before striking it out on his own. Alaia’s work caught the discerning eyes of the Parisian elite, including Countess Nicole de Blégiers and Louise de Vilmorin, as well as Greta Garbo.
In the 1980s, Alaia rose to prominence on the international stage with his body conscious, curve hugging designs. “The Trinity” of reigning supermodels of the day, Naomi Campbell (with whom he shaded a loving father-daughter relationship(he would even take her to dentist appointments!)), Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington, were seen time and time again in his slinky dresses and sky high heels. He also designed much of the wardrobe of Grace Jones' character “May Day” in the 1985 James Bond Film “A View to Kill”.
In the 1990s, after the death of his beloved sister Hafida, Alaia withdrew from fashion. He eventually returned after conducting a series of business moves in the 2000s -involving Prada and the Richmond group (owner of Chloe and Cartier)- that would guarantee his artistic freedom as well as financial safety.
Azzedine Alaia was the master of his own destiny, rejecting aspects of the fashion industry including the traditional calendar, timelines, and advertising norms. He refused to bend to the market’s will. He was a perfectionist who would show his work only when it was finished. Alaia was internationally renowned, his designs appearing on the covers of magazines, runways across the globe, and in the halls of Museums. He was made a chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur in 2008.
Clients include: Countess Nicole de Blégiers, Louise de Vilmorin, Greta Garbo, Michelle Obama, Rihanna, Madonna, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Farida Khelfa, Sophie Hicks, Stephanie Seymour, Marion Cotillard, Alicia Silverstone, Carla Bruni, Nicki Minaj, Victoria Beckham, Kim Kardashian, Gwyneth Paltrow, Solange Knowles, and Behati Prinsloo.

Playful Popeye - themed silk scarf by Moschino! The scarf is primarily robin's egg blue, with light green dots, a narrow border of collaged floral print, and a whimsical collection of illustrations of Olive Oyl! Alternating between standing, strolling, and sometimes skipping, Olive Oyl features thirteen separate times on the scarf, with each figure wearing a different, whimsically printed outfit. Moschino truly delivers with this fun scarf for chic fans!
Although we now know her best from "Popeye The Sailor Man," Olive Oyl first appeared in 1919, and was the main character of E.C. Segar's "Thimble Theatre." It wasn't until 1929 that Popeye, her love interest, was introduced. He was wildly popular, eventually earning his own spinoff franchise in the 1950s. Despite being introduced decades ago, the characters have remained popular in the United States and abroad; Olive Oyl celebrated her 100th birthday in 2019.

Wonderful vintage short sleeve bolero with blue sequins. Dress it up or dress it down... just dress in it! This piece is absolutely fantastic!!!! Mrs. Couture staff is arguing about whether it looks best over our black Norma Kamali jumpsuit or with a t-shirt, jeans and heels. Versatility is just another adjective to describe this piece. The sleeves have slight gathering around the shoulders. There is zig zag patterning along the center front and bottom hems. The soft mesh interior features sleeve headers and underarm shields. Glossy sequins throughout combined with a half-circle pattern of matte sequins in the back add depth to this fantastic piece of vintage outerwear. No closure. Very difficult to determine the year this was made but between the fabric, the stitch, the sequins, and the thread, but our best guess is the 1930's. Great piece to throw on with a plain tee and jeans!
