Spectacular shift dress by Norman Norell! The drama of this dress makes one feel as though it is a coat, with its large cuffed sleeves and large collar. The fabric is black silk with a nice hand. Norman Norell was born in 1900 and began his career working with Hattie Carniegie in 1928. It wasn't until 1960 that Norell's name became the the sole name of the clothing label! He is known for using fine fabrics and expert tailoring.

The waist is cinched and is accented by a gold passementerie tope belt with red jewels.
