1970s Donald Stannard Cabochon Key Necklace

Donald Stannard

Description

Fantastic gold - tone statement necklace by Donald Stannard! The necklace is composed of several heavy linked plates ornamented with bright and cheery cabochons! The central plate is key - like, with several notches and divots.

The piece, with its flowing organic curves and symmetrical layout, is reminiscent of the Egyptian revival jewelry so popular during the King Tut exhibitions of the 70's when Nixon and Sadat were in search of a lasting Middle East peace. Unfortunately, peace has yet to occur but, a great Stannard piece was a product of the efforts.

Donald Stannard honed his craft working for Kenneth Jay Lane from the in the late 1960s and branched out on his own in 1972. He is best known for creating the jewelry worn in "Hello Dolly!," as well as other broadway musicals, movies and television Shows including the 80's soap/drama "Dynasty."
