Very striking 1960s Rudy Gernreich for Harmon Knitwear top and culottes set. The top features long, red knit sleeves, red knit stomach panels, and a crew neck, as well as purple and olive wool panels creating the illusion of a layered crop top halterneck over a red long sleeve shirt. The wool blend culottes feature a fun and funky pattern that is not quite zigzag, not quite zebra, and not quite hounds tooth but is definitely vibrant! The colors play off of each other, and in unison create an eye-popping ensemble that is the perfect example of the avante garde, innovate, adventurous designs Rudi Gernreich was known for.

So fun! We love this unusual maxi length intarsia knit sweater by Giorgio di Sant’Angelo! The sweater dress has long sleeves and a jewel collar, and features an amazing aeronautic intarsia knit design of various aircrafts whirling about in the sky, including a biplane with “37007HR” on its wing. The planes are knit in a bright orange color, echoing the wide orange collar and sleeve cuffs. Stripes of green are present on the lower and upper arms, as well as on the bottom of the skirt, giving the piece a vibrant “racing stripe” edge.
A dress identical to this one has been exhibited at the Phoenix Art Museum as part of their Giorgio di Sant’ Angelo retrospective that took place in fall 2011 / winter 2012.
The sweater was was also mentioned in a 1973 Time Magazine article titled “Fashion is an Honest Sweater.”

Fabulous bright orange knit sweater by Hubert de Givenchy! The sweater has long sleeves, a loose jewel neck collar, and hits slightly above the hip. The famous Givenchy logo is featured on the front of the sweater, at the center of the collarbones - subtle but effective. The sweater is of the "Givenchy Sport" line that was heavily featured on the hit 1970s television series "Charlie's Angels"!
Givenchy is known best for his elegant and innovative haute couture. He began his career working under Elsa Schiaparelli, Jacques Fath, Robert Piguet, and Lucien Lelong. As a young man, he worked alongside Pierre Balmain and Christian Dior who were also making their mark on Parisian fashion.
Givenchy designed Audrey Hepburn’s iconic “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” dress, popularizing the modern “little black dress”. He also designed much of Hepburn’s personal wardrobe. Givenchy was always reinventing himself and with that, revolutionizing the state of fashion. He is credited for creating the “baby doll” dress and “balloon coat,” two designs emblematic of the 1960s.
