1985 Donna Karan "Seven Easy Pieces Collection" Black Wool Wrap Skirt

Description

“THE wrap skirt” was designed in black lightweight wool goes with absolutely everything!

In 1985, after having worked at Anne Klein for over a decade (Klein so trusted her judgement that she brought Karan with her to the famous "Battle of Versailles" show in 1973), she created her own brand and shook the world with her first runway show. Her runway show, titled "Seven Easy Pieces," was the world's first curated capsule collection. Built around a black body suit, the collection included a tailored jacket, skirt, pants, cashmere sweater, leather jacket, and an evening dress. These essential pieces were meant to be worn interchangeably, a revolutionary idea in the fashion world, allowing women (particularly working women) the freedom to look professional but not stuffy. This classic wrap skirt is a part of fashion history!
