1950s YSL for Christian Dior Red Velvet Button Front Dress

Yves Saint Laurent / Christian Dior - New York

Description

Museum Quality fabulous velvet cranberry 1950's Christian Dior dress. This dress is the epitome of the "New Look" style recreated by Saint Laurent during his early years taking over the helm after Dior's sudden death. While paying homage to his mentor, Saint Laurent added bold color not often seen in the pastel and muted colors of the early "New Look" pieces created and shown by Dior. Dress has 13 pink crystal buttons, encased in a gold metal. Ruffle detailing across the shoulders, draping down the chest and across the upper back. Sleeves have a cuff and are 3/4 in length. Dress features a cranberry colored belt that fastens at the waist. Dress is ankle length. Own and wear a piece of classic fashion history. We love it worn open over cigarette pants and a silk tank with a pair of power peep toe heels!
